Adoption of Conservation Agriculture in Uganda's Lango Subregion

Contour furrows and ridges are constructed along contour lines. This technique is also called contour farming and helps to reduce soil erosion, to support the infiltration of run-off water into the soil and can be applied relatively easy also by small scale farmers. Mulching is a protective soil covering to reduce evaporation, maintain even soil temperature, prevent erosion, control weeds and enrich the soil. Mulching and contour ridge furrow provide more water storage and soil organic matter enrichment.
